Toyota W56 Transmission Technical Specifications
The Toyota W55 / W56 transmission is a type of manual gearbox that is known as a three – shift type. This is because it has an input shaft, an output shaft and a counter gear. Engine power gets transmitted from the input shaft to the counter gear, then onto the output shaft that is co-axially fitted to the input shaft. When fourth gear is engaged, the input shaft and the output shaft are engaged directly to each other.
Constant mesh gears are used on the Toyota W56 transmission for 1st – 5th gears. Reverse uses a sliding mesh gear.
