Nissan Rogue CVT Warranty Extension
To provide its customers with additional assurance regarding their overall cost of ownership, Nissan doubled the warranty period for the CVT transmission in the 2008-2010 Nissan Rogue. The existing powertrain warranty coverage of 5 years/60,000 miles was extended at no cost, for CVT repairs, replacements or related towing, up to 10 years/120,000 miles (whichever comes first).
This extension required no action on the customer’s part. The remainder of the powertrain warranty coverage for components other than the transmission remains unchanged, at 5 years/60,000 miles, and the basic warranty coverage also remains unchanged. Problem – The reduced performance is due to the CVT fail-safe mode, which will reduce the vehicle speed to protect the transmission from further damage. This will happen after high RPM (4000+) and/or high-speed driving (65 mph/104.6 km/h) for 1-1.5 hours or more.
Solution – If the technician determines that the transmission has not been overfilled/the correct transmission fluid is used, and the coolant concentration is not greater than 50%, they will use the vehicle’s onboard diagnostic system to determine if the conditions were present to damage the transmission. If the conditions were moderate, the RE0F10A valve body will need to be replaced, and an external CVT fluid cooler installed. If the conditions were more severe, then the transmission itself will need to be replaced.

Can I drive with a transmission problem?
If your Nissan Rogue can still make it up and down the road, you might say “It’s fine, I’ll just drive it until I can get it fixed”. But that is not always a good idea, depending on the symptoms. The overall lifespan of a Nissan Rogue transmission largely depends on how well it was maintained. Factory design flaws also factor into this equation (including the radiator issue that plagued the Nissan RE5R05A in the Pathfinder, Armada, Titan, Frontier and Xterra), along with how/how hard you drive. How to Solve Nissan Rogue Transmission Problems
Solution A: Buy a Used Nissan Rogue Transmission
The quickest way to fix your transmission problems is to simply buy a used transmission or used transmission. These can be found at most junk yards, and they often come with a 30-90 day warranty. However, there’s no way to determine the actual condition of the internal components, so you could be spending a bunch of money to have the exact same problems. Plus, that warranty only covers the transmission if it’s defective, not the labor costs that you’ll have to pay.
Solution B: Buy a Rebuilt Nissan Rogue Transmission
Another option would be a rebuilt transmission or rebuilt transmission. A local repair shop will remove your transmission, then install a bunch of new parts during the rebuild. The problem here is, the skills and experience of each transmission rebuilder will vary widely from shop to shop, so you could have problems from something that wasn’t adjusted properly. And the 1-2 year warranty might only cover you at certain transmission repair shops, in a specific geographical area.

Just had my 2012 Rogue eat the transmission. After having the AC compressor fail, and the front axle earlier. Makes me really happy I bought that service contract at CarMax… Wondering if they’ll total the car out for the transmission failure…
The most terrible vehicle that I’ve ever had is the Nissan Rogue 2015. Just recently went to Nissan to fix the air con, cost $862.17 then came back again after 8 days about noise under chassis, recommended replacing the drive shaft cost $1,500,noise didn’t resolve. another recommendation replacing transfer case estimated cost $5122.51.
Now my own recommendation to my family or to anyone who can read this don’t ever ever buy this kind of vehicle. It is a headache.
I got a Nissan 2016 Rogue as my first new car… nothing but problems.. and now my transmission needs to be replaced at 67,000 miles. When the mechanic told me I missed the transmission warranty by 7,000 miles I bursted into tears. I am still paying off the car and now will have to put myself into credit card debt to fix this. Will never get another Nissan and will encourage others to stay away.
The dealer extended the warranty to 120000 miles. You should call a nissan shop and find out. They will do it for free.
I have a nissan rogue 2013 and it started to act up also. no warning light either! AND now when i took it in and they confirmed it IS the CVT, they said mine just so happens to be NOT on the list either for the extended Warranty! also the regular warranty was 100k and I have 102k! my household has purchased multiple Nissans! Plus why they are telling me mine will cost 4G I don’t know but it should be on the list for the extra extension since it is a fact as per Nissan service center that it IS the CVT! I am furious!
I have a 2015 rogue with 110k on it. Took it into the dealership and was advised i needed replacement transmission. Tried to speak with Nissan customer care to split the cost 50/50 …. Thought that was more than fair. No luck. Treated like i was a nuisance and unreasonable and a second class citizen. Horrible Horrible customer service. 5 year old car that has been well cared for and no assistance from Nissan. Never buy again. I will be passing this story along to all my clients.

I just had my transmission replaced on my 2011 NIssan Rogue which has 80,000 miles on it. I guess I am one of the lucky ones that has gone this far in it. My mechanic tells me they are notorious for this issue. It is not worth buying a used or rebuilt transmission as they are unreliable. I was wondering if there was any recall on this issue? Seems to me there should be some type of program to reimburse us since this is obviously a major issue for Rogue owners.

Did anyone get their vehicle running great again? I’ve just gone through almost everything on this page. 2014 Rogue 65K miles. Stalled on me while heading home from gym at night and again several times heading to work. Had fuel pump replaced by recall service then I replaced the transmission out of pocket which is driving better however I’m still having issues with not engaging gear when moving from park to drive or reverse. Going to try the relay someone here mentioned.
Have a 2012, replaced 3.5 years ago at 65,000 and now it’s out again at 119,000. Not sure what I’m going to do this time, will be contacting Nissan.
I have 2015 Nissan Rouge Select and today I was driving and my car wouldn’t accelerate It was in drive and even when pressed the gas it still wouldn’t move I put it in park and sat for a minute and started it again I put it in drive and it moved for a minute then it wouldn’t accelerate again I had to do this all the way home
this happened to me, I have a 2013 rogue, in the middle of the freeway it stopped accelerating and started to make a very loud whining sound… i was gas pedal to the floor trying to get over off the freeway and zero acceleration. I thankfully was able to pull off freeway. at first i thought it was over heating, i have owned that car since it had 5 miles on it and never one problem. got it 2 miles to a place they said I blew my transmission. I also was 2 hours from home with my 2 daughters. we had to have it towed back to our town. i had the transmission replaced by nissan and the ” brain chip” replaced. they are actually currently driving it and checking it now. I was told you can continue to drive on it gong approx 30 mph however it isnt good for the engine/transmission and will only cause further damage.
This is what happened when my 2012 rogue transmission went out at 65K. Now at 119K and it’s out again so I would be weary. Warranty on the replacement was 12mos or 12,000 miles which is shitty. Go somewhere with a good warranty.

I had a problem recently the my 2015 select Nissan Rouge sometimes wouldn’t go forward or in reverse but I would put it into park rev the engine and try again. Most times it would work. But I finaly figured what was going on a relay under the dach was going bad effecting the electronics making a delay for the transmission . I changed it no more problem. its on the far right side of the fuse box and its blue. The cost of the relay is about 40 dollars. All the transmission places wanted a bunch of money to replace the cvt and it wasn’t that.
Which blue relay is it?
Just got off the phone with a regional manager with Nissan. She let me know that they will not assist with repairs for my 2014 Nissan Rogue transmission ($2900). It has been acting up for months, cause being overheating, leading to lack of acceleration which is a safety issue, nasty burnt smell. I was reduced to driving it no more than half an hour at a time, to avoid the unpleasant and unsafe aspects. Only took it in now, because it took months of this for check engine light to come on, which leads me to wonder about their software. With nothing showing up on telemetry no shop was even willing to look at it. If anyone has legal action in mind, let me know, I think we would have a better chance as a group. I’m certainly up for it!

Online it shows the models and years as having the same problem I told the dealership yet they want me to pay out of pocket for exactly what the website says is wrong and what I told them. $2900 to fix it but they say my year doesn’t have the recall yet other years do.

2011 Nissan Rogue – bought it used with 2 1/2 year 24,000 mile extended warranty. No light coming on to indicate a problem, no leak of fluid evident.. transmission just blew out while driving. Not only will Nissan not cover the issue they KNOW they are having with their transmissions, but warranty company denied my claim as well. Even though the transmission fluid was still in place they said wires were wet and deemed Proper care not being handled by me. What? Had the car for one year, just inspected.. exactly what did I not maintain proper care of? Oil changes on time as well. Just cost me $3,800 to replace!!
I have the same problem. I was in Ohio on my way to Chicago driving 75miles when my speed started to go down up to 40miles. My car is still in a Nissan dealer shop and it’s been 2 weeks now. I’ve been taking uber to go to work. The shop kept telling me they’re waiting for Nissan if they’re going to pay half of the cost or not. I was hoping they will because I understand that they extended the warranty for 10 yrs and my car is only 8yrs old. Nissan is aware of this failing transmission so they should pay!
Driving my 2014 rogue I had noticed some issues like slow acceleration but didn’t know and about a month ago it started doing some jerking but was told it was my tires when I took it for an oil change and it needed a filter ok fast forward 3 days ago coming home over the Causeway truck stated doing some weird stuff like RPMs rising and no acceleration past 40 even with my foot to the floor I was scared to say the least ok got it home and went the very next day to trade it in but some issues with trade so called to have transmission changed at dealer 3800 other places 3800-4500 who has that kind of money just laying around somebody anybody let me know of legal info
We have a 2018 Nissan Rogue and our transmission went out at 44450 miles. Although they are providing a rental during the shop time, we are not yet having any luck getting any type of assurance of help if the rebuild goes out again after the original 5 years, 60,000, which is only 15,550 miles away!!
We learned that if we were already beyond the 60,000, the new rebuild would only have a 12,000 mi. warranty. We don’t think that shows much confidence in the new rebuild.

My 2014 Nissan Rogue transmission just went out too. Never got a warning message on dash control at all. Was driving along at 40 miles an hour , when it start emrevving rpm, like I’m in neutral. Nissan says my VIN is not on the extended 10 yr 120000 mile warranty. This is ridiculous. Oh 66000 miles on my Nissan.
My nissan had issues at 90k miles. It would stutter between 35mph-45mph. If I was stopped at a light when I hit the gas it took a second before it would go. Just spent 4975 on in a remanufactured w/3year unlimited mile warranty.

2016 nissan rogue that hesitates to move or move at all when I go shift to drive or reverse. I just want to cry. It has 82000 miles. I bought it a year and a half ago and have had nothing but problems. I was told it had never been in an accident. It had been. Im an idiot for not asking to see the car fax. Guess he saw me coming and wanted to push this car on me. I can’t afford to dix all these issues and pay a payment. I have never been more frustrated. I want to just stop paying for it and let them come get it.
I bought a 2011 Nissan Rogue with 93000 miles on it. It would barely move forward or in reverse but seemed to gain traction after 20mph. But the trans would loose momentum going up a sloght hill. I did my research and changed the cvt trans fluid and put in some Bars anti slip cvt fluid and it is back to 90%. It drives better everytime I drive it. So far I have only put 80 miles on it since changing the fluid but it made a HUGE dofference.
