Problem – Due to extreme load and material shrinkage, the torque converter external access dust plug may fall out during severe duty use.
Solution – Install new plug (part number E9TZ-7N171-A) with a 1/4 inch bead of silicone sealant around the plug.

My transmission leaks out the plug in the bottom of the bellhouse when It gets real hot outside and I drive in stop and go traffic. Drips on the crossover pipe and leave small spot in driveway. But only when hot

I have a crack in my housing on my transmission 2002 18076.6
Ford Excursion 2000 V-10 Triton with 290,000 miles. Extremely slow acceleration to the point that when pulling out of an intersection I find myself having to pull off the road because of the engine feels like it’s struggling to go forward. When sitting at a traffic light it rumbles as if it’s still struggling to get fuel.
The fuel pump in the tank has been replaced about a year ago and the fuel filter was replaced as well.
Even in reverse the Excursion tends to hesitate as if it’s going to die.
