Summary – In November 2005, Chrysler recalled 256,409 vehicles equipped with the 42RLE transmission, because the cup plug that holds the park prawl anchor shaft may not have been properly installed. If the shaft moves out of position, the vehicle may not be able to achieve the Park position.
Consequence – If this occurs and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could unexpectedly roll away, causing serious injury and damage.
Remedy – Dealers were instructed to install a bracket to ensure that the 42RLE parking prawl anchor shaft will stay in the proper position. Concerned owners may call Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
Recall H37 – Gearshift Cable – W5A580 / NAG1 transmission

Summary – 20,100 of the above vehicles may have their gearshift cable become disengaged from the column shifter.
Consequence – If this happens, the transmission gear shift position display could read a different gear then the transmission is actually in. This could cause the vehicle to inadvertently move and cause a crash or serious injury.
Remedy – Chrysler recommended securing the gear shift cable to the steering column mounting bracket with a plastic tie strap. Many of the vehicles covered in this recall were repaired by the factory/dealers, and it’s likely that the different police agencies may have performed their own repairs to correct this issue. Problem – Owners may experience a shudder vibration and/or a high-frequency buzzing sound. This W5A580/NAG1 transmission problem may be most noticeable during light acceleration where partial application of the torque converter clutch happens in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gears. The reason this happens is because water has gotten past the transmission oil fill tube/dipstick seal. Contaminated transmission fluid can cause the TCC to stick and/or slip.
Solution – If the contaminated transmission fluid has not caused a lot of damage, the transmission and torque converter may be able to be flushed to cure the problem. However, if the contamination is severe, the torque converter will need to be replaced, and the transmission inspected for signs of other damage. The transmission fill tube seal will also need to be upgraded

Shifting problems and solenoid/pressure switch DTCs – 42RLE transmission
Problem – Drivers may experience 42RLE transmission problems that include slipping and harsh shifts. The check engine light may also be illuminated with the following codes stored in the ECU: P0750, P0755, P0760, P0765, P0846, P0871, P0841.
Solution – The problem may be caused by corrosion in the 10 pin solenoid harness connector. This may also be caused by a wiring issue between the TCM/ECU and the transmission harness connector. A new design 42RLE 10-pin connector will need to be installed and/or wiring issues repaired.

I’m having the same problem. Only I can’t put it in park and go again. I have to shut it off for a minute and turn it back on then drive a few more blocks. I can’t even make it to the store in town. When I try to accelerate the rpms go up.

I have an ’06 Charger I just bought-used, obviously. Also, wrecked (front end, apparently, both sides). Drives straight ,sounded good, mechanic friend said it was a good deal. Engine light is on and leaks transmission fluid A LOT. So , I was advised to fill it frequently, but there is no dip stick. I put in 1/2 qt, but mechanic friend said I should add considerably more, and continue to do so if I noticed the leak was approx amount I put into it. Long story short, car worked great. put about 6 qts. of ATF in over last 2 weeks. (I know, bad move). Was pulling dents and straightening front (near where headlight housing is-broken/bent near radiator bracket (Also broken.) Wire harness was in fold of metal. When I un-pinched it ,over half of wiring was severed. I matched colors and soldered then and put shrinktube over every wire “repaired”….The ABS sensor had been open and dragging for the 2 weeks I had driven, as well. So, I replaced that part, the headlights, and wiring mended….Now, engine light still on, leak seems to be now overflowing out of tube/top of motor….and it won’t go faster than 37 mph…rps never get higher than Very near, 3. Like it’s sot a governor, or throttle set ( i assume this is limp mode?) Also, brake light flashes periodically while driving down the road
Might the speed sensor dragging over that time , open wires, have caused this? the over, or under fill? Improper mending of wiring? The only codes I have are from ignition code check…they seem to be catalytic convertor issues, possibly? 0101, 0031, 0037, 0051, 0057 are the codes….any advice (NiCE, advise, or ,at least, not too terribly directed at my lack of brains,here, in description of events….)

P0700 is a transmission code most likely a solenoid issue.

2014 Charger RT everything operates as should no dummie lights on dash has park but shifting out of park it has nothing acts as though it is in neutral shifter in cluster shows correct gear as well. The car rolls freely no grinding or clunks and no leaks.

i put it away for the winter (4months), started right up, let it warm up for about 5-10 minutes.
left the driveway, everything seemed alright until about 5 minutes into the ride i was going up a slight incline and lost power to the gas pedal.
Pulled over but after going again, no power from the accelerator.
I did end up using the manual shifter to get the car home.
