Chrysler 300M / 300C Transmission Recalls

Summary – In November 2005, Chrysler recalled 256,409 vehicles equipped with the 42RLE transmission, because the cup plug that holds the park prawl anchor shaft may not have been properly installed. If the shaft moves out of position, the vehicle may not be able to achieve the Park position.
Consequence – If this occurs and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could unexpectedly roll away, causing serious injury and damage.
Remedy – Dealers were instructed to install a bracket to ensure that the 42RLE parking prawl anchor shaft will stay in the proper position. Concerned owners may call Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.

Problem – Owners may experience a shudder vibration and/or a high-frequency buzzing sound. This W5A580/NAG1 transmission problem may be most noticeable during light acceleration where partial application of the torque converter clutch happens in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gears. The reason this happens is because water has gotten past the transmission oil fill tube/dipstick seal. Contaminated transmission fluid can cause the TCC to stick and/or slip.
Solution – If the contaminated transmission fluid has not caused a lot of damage, the transmission and torque converter may be able to be flushed to cure the problem. However, if the contamination is severe, the torque converter will need to be replaced, and the transmission inspected for signs of other damage. The transmission fill tube seal will also need to be upgraded.

When I reset the tcm shifts great for a while then goes back to staying in first gear

2005 chrysler 300 limited rwd 3.5l v6 no check engine light on but car started slipping when accelerating a few weeks back and would stall when reversing the past few days had code reader done despite no check engine light and popped up p7000 or something with transmission control module malfunction last week. Well yesterday i lost reverse gear had fluid level checked and was quart low they added fluid and told me to add in Lucas transmission slip stuff so i did and the car would shift into reverse but still no pull it has 130 k miles on it and I got in March 17th 2021 with 106k miles on it. Car was high maintained scheduled by previous owner and barely driven compared to my mileage increase and driven daily.

We bought a 2007 Chrysler 300 last year (2020). It’s been a nightmare…we’ve practically replaced everything under the hood! We’ve also now bought 4 PCM’s (computers). We’re now on the 4th one, the 3rd went out on me a few days ago. Within a few months of driving, it’s putting the transmission into limp mode in 2nd gear. With the first two it did a big hard jerk and went to limp mode (2nd gear) but the 3rd one didn’t do that. I was coming to a stop at a red light, did what felt like a small jerk and when I started to accelerate it was in limp mode. The transmission had just been replaced before we bought it. The first two computers we bought were pre programmed but the 3rd one wasn’t. We had the car hauled to the dealer to be programmed. My husband is a mechanic and at his wits end at what could possibly be wrong! Any help and input would greatly be appreciated. I love my car but my husband said if this 4th computer goes out, we’re getting rid of it 🙁
