TSB 07-14-7 – Key stuck in ignition / shifter binding condition – AW21 Transmission
2006 – 2007 Ford Fusion – 2006 – 2007 Mercury Milan – 2006 Lincoln Zephyr
Problem – Some vehicles built before 9/4/2006 may exhibit a problem where the ignition key gets trapped in the ignition switch due to a binding shifter button that does not allow the parking prawl to contact the park detect switch. The shifter sliding mechanism may also bind.
Solution – Install new shift knob button

Problem – Some vehicles built before 9/2/2006 may exhibit a noticeable transmission whine during light throttle applications at speeds between 40 – 60 mph.
Solution – Install a mass damper kit on the transmission shift cable near the bulkhead in the engine compartment (part #6E5Z-7L256A)

Problem – Certain vehicles built between 10/1/2009-12/31/2009, equipped with all-wheel-drive, may experience a shutter or vibration in the driveline during a tight turn. They may also experience a thump or clunk noise during light acceleration. These symptoms may also occur under 40 mph (64 km/h), when driving uphill or towing under heavy acceleration.
Solution – Installing a properly remanufactured PTU (Power Transfer Unit— a simplified transfer case) may solve this problem.

Can I drive with a transmission problem?

Seems to have to much movement putting into reverse or drive. Car runs great 104.000 on car 2006 mercury Milan Trans quite on road changes fine no leaks. Have not had checked yet.fuilds good.

08 mercury Milan premier AWD the transmission shifted hard from 1st to 2nd and the trans light came on. Staying in 2nd until I turn off the car then back on obd codes are p0706 ,p2762, p2763 , p0976 , p0352 any help or suggestions please let me know

Car would grind when put in drive. Got it towed to a mechanic. Transfer case needs to be replaced. $2100 it cost. The car has 92,000 miles on it.

2010 Mercury Milan; Car has trouble occasionally stuck in first shifting to second when driven over an hour and code P07050 is what comes up WITH TRANSMISSION light not Check Engine light. Rebuilt transmission by AAMCO was installed 18 months ago. Stating to have delayed problems starting the car.. Down shifting from second to first once in while.
