Problem – Some vehicles built before 9/4/2006 may exhibit a problem where the ignition key gets trapped in the ignition switch due to a binding shifter button that does not allow the parking prawl to contact the park detect switch. The shifter sliding mechanism may also bind.
Solution – Install new shift knob button

Problem – Some vehicles may experience sluggish acceleration or a hesitation feel during a rolling stop, followed by a harsh bump or slip feeling. This can be caused by a design flaw in the 6F35 valve body / 6F50 valve body.
Solution – On transmissions originally built for Mercon LV transmission fluid (listed on the dipstick), the valve body will have to be modified by deleting one hole in the valve body separator plate, and removing the check ball in the area of the deleted hole. If this modification is not performed properly, the transmission may experience a loss of reverse or a 2-3 shift flare.

Problem – Vehicles equipped with a floor shift selector lever and push button start, may display a ‘Shift To Park’ or ‘Transmission Not In Park’ message, even though the transmission is actually in Park. How to Solve Lincoln MKZ Transmission Problems

Stuck in reverse and it’s not the bushing

My 2008 MKZ has gotten loud, ( in side the car) especially when it is cold outside. The sound is a labored engine sound, the sound gets better with time as the engine gets warmer. It seems that the RPMs jump a bit when its cold.
What is the issue?
The car will go in reverse but when pit into drive will only go about two feet then stop like it is in park but will be in drive. Also makes a grinding noise

I have a 2014 mkz with 27000 miles and all services maintained! Within the last month the transmission has jerked 3 times! Does anyone know why and it’s warranty will be up soon so it’s going too the shop, no matter what! Just thought I’d check!…thank you, Todd!…
I have a 2007 mkz and and when in gear I have a severe vibration in the steering wheel and can be felt in the seats as well, and the vibration pretty much goes away in neutral, I also have a loud whining noise kinda sounds like a turbo and is worse when engine is cold, any help would be wonderful
The vibration while driving is worse between 20 and 25 mph.

Possibly a filed plug which can blow the coil which can fry the cpu. Happened on my sister 08 Milan (same basic car) and had to replace all the plugs. The coil. Then the cpu also needed to be replaced bc it runs in positive ground so it will burn out the cpu. Then after all that it needs to be taken to ford garage (towed) (it won’t run with new cpu) and ford has to flash the cpu to the car to allow them to communicate. The snap on obd 2 Zeus did not work at mechanic shop. Needs to be ford dealer. Sorry.
